Sacred Rhythms...

By default, a masters program will introduce and help one become familiar with authors that one would perhaps have overlooked for various reasons. I was quite happy to be introduced to Ruth Barton. Although I have practiced most of these disciplines in my life (because of early input years ago from previous Super Friends in my life) I was able to sit back, read and take it all in, as if to define things more, to see where I can grow more, and refine my own disciplines.

I had the privilege of recently walking alongside 24 individuals via email (as part of a project during our first of 6 terms in the Masters Program) and I think we all walk away with so much that we have learned. Not many of us were aware or practiced some of the spiritual disciplines that was introduced.

I targeted Afrikaans people specifically, and I became aware of a need that is not really outspoken. It is unspoken. A need for more spiritual disciplines and mentors that can guide us in this specific spiritual growth.

Sacred Rhythms

By

Winner of a 2006 Logos Book Award

Spiritual disciplines are activities that open us to God's transforming love and the changes that only God can bring about in our lives. Picking up on the monastic tradition of creating a "rule of life" that allows for regular space for the practice of the spiritual disciplines, this book takes you more deeply into understanding seven key disciplines along with practical ideas for weaving them into everyday life.

Each chapter includes exercises to help you begin the practices--individually and in a group context. The final chapter puts it all together in a way that will help you arrange your life for spiritual transformation.

The choice to establish your own sacred rhythm is the most important choice you can make with your life.

Do you long for a deep, fundamental change in your life with God? Do you desire a greater intimacy with God? Do you wonder how you might truly live your life as God created you to live it? This one is for you.

Here is a true solid and amazing challenge for you.

I say: Just do it!
